To whom it may concern,
Are we not even the slightest bit concerned for the welfare of my hands? Maybe your emails got accidentally sent before you had the chance to show concern. Tis no matter. The mission doctor was kind enough to send me a prescription for a wonder cream that I am only allowed to use for 7 days. He also sent some information about my newly discovered chronic disease-dishydrosis. The following are excerpts that made me laugh and then cry and then whimper while laughing.
"This condition is not contagious to others, but due to its unsightly nature can cause significant distress in regards to social interactions with others."
"The name comes from the word "dyshidrotic," meaning "bad sweating," which was once believed to be the cause."
"dyshidrosis sufferers may need to abstain from washing their own hair or bodies."
All I have to say is that when you mix "unsightly nature," "bad sweating," and "abstain(ing) from washing," I´m fixin` to be one spicy, little, number come winter semester.
Don´t worry. I´m not trunky. Just wanted to share the love.
We, Sister J and I, had an amazing week. One of the best of my mission. We have been focusing on finding Young Single Adults and we now have three, wonderful, new investigators. Dorothea wasn´t very interested when we met her on the street but we managed to get her address so we could bring her a Book of Mormon (Of course, we had one with us but sometimes we forget to tell people so they have to give us their contact info.) Yesterday we went by. She let us in, let us teach and now she wants us to teach her mother too.
A member called us last week and told us he was inviting two families to the primary activity and that he wanted us to be there. We went and were able to talk to both for over an hour. They are not new investigators yet but we will be meeting with them at the member's house in the coming weeks. Our stake president asked ever member to read "Verkündet mein Evangelium!" (Preach My Gospel) completely before stake conference. We are grateful because the members have been better than ever with their missionary work. Every Monday night, for the next six weeks, we have appointments to teach member's neighbors in their homes.
Oh, and we found another new investigator yesterday whose huge dog named Dandy managed to bite me even though he was wearing a muzzle. Dogs love me.
Love,
Berkeley Magleby
